Brief history:
This drive-in, from all reports, traded very well with the entertainment starved population of Mt Isa. Although other indoor theatres operated in the town, I know where I'd be in the days before air-conditioned theatres, at the drive-in.

This great walk-in section differs from most other seating areas at drive-ins in that it was outdoors and uncovered. Other drive-ins in northern Australia had similar areas, particularly in WA.

I hoped they changed the programme twice a week, as I'd want to go to the pictures here at least that often; the Tropicaire name suits this place.
